After raving reviews from last week’s post, please enjoy another from my Momma!
The seasons as we know them are summer, fall, winter and spring. Based on weather, ecology and the number of daylight hours in a given region, the seasons make up the four divisions of the year. What I particularly love about the four seasons is the fact that “change of seasons” gives us just that, change. I am a believer that change is good, however, it took me a long time to come to that realization.
There are numerous instances that occur in life that keep us on hold or more bluntly stated, stuck.
Stuck in a relationship, stuck in a career, stuck spiritually, stuck with indecision and lastly, stuck in fear which encompasses all of the others. When fear takes hold of us and we find ourselves stuck, we almost always want out. We may initially accept and be comfortable with the “I don’t know what to do” about career, relationships, spirituality and everything else that puts us where we are. Bottom line is sooner or later we realize we want out and long for a way to move on. We want CHANGE.
Born and raised in upstate New York, I loved the four seasons as far back as I can remember. I was blessed with wonderful childhood memories. Looking for the first spring flowers and splashing through puddles, running through the sprinkler on hot summer days, jumping into huge piles of autumn leaves and carving pumpkins, the wonderful aroma in our home on Thanksgiving, building snowmen, skating and sledding in the winter…a whole mixed bag of activities that make up changes along the way.I’ve thought about this a lot and am now convinced it’s not only the change I love, but feeling the movement from one season to the next.
Experiencing the movement, the transition, from one area of life to another can be and should be in my opinion, a most rewarding sense of being. Whether it’s a a sad or happy time, I believe we have to keep moving to the next realm, deciding which fork in the road to choose or taking a chance to see what’s around the bend. I believe if we have faith, God will always go before us and lead us in the right direction. He is with us through it all. He is with us at the beginning. He is with us traveling the journey and He is with us when we arrive at the next destination. Most importantly, my faith enables me to believe God only wants the best for us. Processing this, I’ve concluded that reaching the next destination, is exactly where we’re supposed to be at that moment in time.
Embrace that moment. There’s a reason for it. It’s one of countless moments that contribute to the seasons of our lives.
Summer, fall, winter, spring! One season moves into the next. The seasons bring us joy as well as challenges. Grounded in faith, go with the transition. Become fearless when moving forward. Welcome the change. Rely on God, the best Guide for your journey. The time is now.
“For everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
