The cold temperatures that have been creeping in may make the title of this week’s post a literal state for many! Though I can’t complain about the temperatures down here in Texas, I have been feeling under the weather recently.
So far 2022 has consisted of a positive CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus and two, yes two, bouts of food poisoning or some kind of stomach flu, still to be determined 🤢
The CCPV was never a question of “if” for me but rather “when” I would get it. The reality is it appears evident that most everyone will get some strain of the virus. That’s why it is SO important that we eat clean, exercise and fight the obesity epidemic in our country.
We should be putting ourselves in the best position possible to have a full recovery from the virus.
Side Note: Check out the 6 part series (HERE) I wrote on nutrition last August. It was inspired by the lack of health initiatives in our country during a time of crucial health needs.
To me, the current administration and mainstream media focus heavily on the fear factor concerning the virus. I for one, focus on fearing God, who repeatedly tells us in His Word “do not be afraid.”
Long story short, I killed the CCPV in 3 days and I’m happy to report that I’m still alive after the White House predicted “severe illness and death for me and my family over the holidays” 😌
As for the undetermined food poisoning/stomach flu, let’s just say it helped get me back to my pre Christmas weight!
There it is folks, a stab at humor and a shot at positivity while feeling under the weather 😂
Now, on a more serious note, my best friend’s husband became quite sick this month and ended up being hospitalized for almost a week. (Not CCPV) During this time she put on her big girl pants and took care of their home, business and three young children. I’m happy to report her husband is now home and recovering.
While he has claimed victory in the battle against his health, my friend is now fighting her own battle with the very hospital that treated her husband. She’s worked there for 13 years and after being given the ultimatum of getting (another) jab, she is throwing in the towel.
With that being said,
- Her attitude is positive ✅
- She is not afraid ✅
- She is certainly not alone ✅
- She is not defeated ✅
She is an inspiration and an example of someone who isn’t afraid to take a stand in what she believes is right.
You see, regardless of how big or small the problems are that we all have likely experienced already, they don’t have to be a curse on the eleven months that remain.
It’s easy to throw the towel in on the year when it doesn’t start the way we wanted it or expected it to.
So what’s my point in writing about all this?
We All Need To Chill Out
It is our human nature to only see what is in front of us and put a death grip on what we want, tirelessly trying to control everything.
The reality is that many of life’s circumstances are out of our control and this is hard to accept.
The Good News (literally 😉) is that even though we can’t see ahead, we can rest assure that God has a master plan for our life.
Sarah Young describes it the best in her devotional, Jesus Today,
“GAZE AT ME; GLANCE AT PROBLEMS – this is the secret of living victoriously. Your tendency is to gaze at problems for prolonged periods of time, glancing at Me for help. This is natural for someone with a fallen mind living in a fallen world. However, I have called you to live supernaturally, and I have empowered you to do so. The Holy Spirit, who lives in all My followers, enables you to live beyond yourself – to transcend your natural tendencies.
Ask My Spirit to help you fix your gaze on Me. Invite Him to alert you whenever you get overly focused on problems so you can redirect your attention to Me. This is hard work because it is not only unnatural but also countercultural. Moreover, the evil one and his demons seek to distract you from My Presence. All these influences working together put massive pressure on you to pay attention to your problems – or else! So you need the assistance of My Spirit continually. Ask Him to help you deal with difficulties as needed, while reserving the bulk of your attention for Me – your constant Companion.”
Every time I am faced with a problem, a discomfort or a moment when I feel like I’m losing faith in people and the world around me, I remind myself to chill out as I quietly say, “I trust you, Jesus.” 🙏
Whatever 2022 has thrown at you, I wish you the ability to push fear aside and open your heart to Jesus, so He may lead you to your victory.
I pray peace and comfort for everyone who has lost someone due to the CCPV. I pray someday, somehow, this virus is removed from the forefront of everyone’s lives.
May God bless and protect our country and everyone reading.
